Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of library operation. Provide reference and research services to the firm. Prepare budget proposals and make recommendations to firm management. Design, implement and oversee library systems including collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, accounting, circulation, interlibrary loan activities, and the library database. Administer computer aided legal research databases and coordinate database training of personnel. Prepare agendas and schedule meetings of the Library Committee, and carry out decisions of the Library Committee.Qualifications: Knowledge of library systems as normally acquired through a Master's degree in Library and Information Science. Knowledge of legal bibliography, legal research, and law library procedures as usually acquired through 1-2 years of law library experience. Computer searching ability in a variety of databases including Westlaw, Lexis, and CourtLink. A prestigious management consulting firm with global reach is seeking an experienced and proactive information professional who is fluent in both Spanish and English. The successful candidate, who can be based in either the firm’s Dallas Texas or Mexico City office (with appropriate papers), but will work closely with both offices.
THE POSITION:
The position incorporates research and ready reference, asset building (local, regional and global, non-research related activities, and professional development). Conduct research for Case Teams, Practice Areas, and client development utilizing electronic, print, and other resources as appropriate including Spanish language resources. Proactively work with Case Team Managers to understand the context of the case and specific case information needs. Lead ongoing product and service evaluation and resource development activities and participate in implementation as appropriate. Develop and maintain vendor relationships for Spanish language resources. Develop training materials customized to local office needs. Participate in asset building projects. Regularly participate in skill development activities both internal and external. Continually deepen and broaden skill set in response to internal market demand.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be fluent in Spanish and English. MLS from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in consulting, financial services or other professional services research environment. Minimum 3 years demonstrated competency in conducting complex research inquiries using electronic services and print resources in a fast paced professional services environment such as consulting, financial or other business setting. Strong training and presentation skills required. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Knowledge of Latin America regional research resources, especially Spanish language business.
